In recent times, there has been a noticeable rise in 'anti-fascist' rhetoric, which in turn, sets out to incite violence and harm to those perceived as fascist. Regular reminders are put out on social media with popular phrases such as, “punch your local Nazi today” being frequently posted and which remain on Twitter etc, never to be removed. There is, however, an important issue which needs clearing up; chiefly because the bar set, for someone to be labelled a fascist or a Nazi is becoming so increasingly low, it feels some days that most of us could find ourselves in that bracket. This leads me to wonder, that being the case, would I be at risk of violence, if someone became aware of my views and opinions?
No doubt, there is a need to counter any sense of fascism that is creeping back in and assuming the threat is genuine, it would be reassuring to know moves are being made to prevent it. But this relies on people's abilities to accurately identify who is fascist and who isn't. To clarify, I don't believe violence is the answer here, even if the target is the 'real deal'.
Let's have a look at a few of these calls to violence. We've already seen one of the posts, further up, which compliments the graffiti I saw in the first image. “BASH THE FASH” it says. A clear request for violence. The next one, below, is a little more specific, linking it to Pride Month and suggesting the target should be a “local proud boy”.
In this next image, below, it goes further and advocates, “the only good Nazi is a de@d one”. There are many 'creative' ways in which these posts incite violence and murder. I can only imagine they think they're being clever and witty, but there are reasons for laws against 'incitement to violence/murder'.
Now let's look at who might be considered fair game. First up, is JK Rowling.
“Rowling is a fascist”. This is the same JK Rowling who started up her own charity, Lumos, which has generated many millions in cash for a variety of causes where children were in dire need. Children of all colours, faiths and circumstances. She is also a notably left wing in her politics and her history is demonstrable of this. A beloved writer of children's books and supporter of any number of charitable causes. But her one crime? To believe that sex is real and that gender should not take precedence over it, not least in situations such as women's rape crisis centres.
But for that one act of support for women and girls, she is suddenly catapulted into the realm of 'Nazi' (as in the image above) and 'fascist'. This leads me to conclude that if she is considered such things, she is therefore a target for violence and possibly murder.
When JK first stuck her head above the parapet with respect to the gender Vs sex arena, she was almost immediately accused of being a fascist/Nazi and soon after, the threats of violence and murder followed. One of the most recent being this one below.
This one occurred in response to her reaction to the Salman Rushdie stabbing, making it all the more unnerving
As I have said before, this framing of anyone who is deemed guilty of 'wrongthink' as a Nazi or a fascist is a very dangerous game to play, because what happens, is some people don't bother to analyse things any deeper. Some will have a sense of 'moral duty' to act on the incitements they have seen frequently posted on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit et al. Some people are maybe not in a position to distinguish between the real threats and the hyperbolic, perceived threats, which in truth, can often just involve targetting women who want to make sure their child has covered all bases before going all out for 'affirmation' based treatment and medicalised pathways; or even more obscurely, a woman who has stumbled into the gender debate because she was trying to stop a man from watching little girls undress in her local swimming pool. You can read more about that here: https://reduxx.info/senior-woman-banned-from-local-pool-after-expressing-concern-over-male-in-womens-washroom/
The same goes for those who believe in fairness in sports and who want to put the brakes on before allowing into competitive spots, any male who claims to be a woman. Certainly in my experience, it has become very clear, that to question or doubt any tenet of queer theory or gender ideology, is to run the risk of being denounced a 'Nazi/fascist' and by extension, be at risk of violence.
This is unacceptable and as the panic and hyperbole increase, so will the threat and the risk of violence and for what? For not believing in the 'true faith' of gender identity and it's carefully packaged set of beliefs? We've been here before. Please. Let's not repeat history.
Worth remembering that one of the actual Nazi tactics was to place party members in every community group no matter how trivial. This dissenters were afraid to speak out. Gender Ideology is no less totalitarian in its approach.
