The Harrowing Case of Dr Harrop.
On the 15th November, British doctor (General Practitioner/GP) Adrian Harrop will be facing a medical practitioners tribunal. He is alleged to have…
"inappropriately used his Twitter account to post tweets that were offensive and/or insulting and/or inappropriate in nature and some of which were intended to intimidate."
Dr Harrop clearly sees himself as a defender of LGBTQ+ people, more so, the TQ+ group. But there have been some occasions where that support has become somewhat more than just your regular allyship. In fact, there have been moments where he has gone way further than he should have. Of course, pro-trans folk and other cheerleaders have defended him and minimised what he said as being just a few “mean” words, but as many of us know, Harrop has seemingly demonstrated a particular hatred for certain figures - often women.
So, without further ado, let’s just quickly remind ourselves of the kind of hatred Harrop shows for women via a whistle-stop tour of his treatment of one specific woman. Each of the following images are demonstrative of Harrop’s interactions with others about the woman in question. In them, you can see how far he goes in order to upset her and make her fearful, despite her clear pleas for him to stop.
In this first situation, the target of Harrop’s ‘sarcasm’ had been due to travel over to the US and had been looking forward to the trip. After publicly mentioning the travels she was about to embark on, she was refused the ability to travel by the US Embassy. Here below, Harrop taunts her and attempts to capitalise on her upset by goading her further.
In the next image, below, Harrop carries on his teasing by responding to news of her being shaken by things being said about her. He mocks her state of mind by painting a picture of her “rocking back and forth” and being in need of an “intervention”, claiming he’ll send her husband a “text”. For a GP, who no doubt, sees a fair share of patients in his surgery with mental health issues, this seems like quite a callous way of behaving.
In this next image, the woman in question makes a (public) plea for Harrop to “stop the “tick tock wink wink” comments (which were a reference to her being soon to be investigated or condemned by some sort of authority). They appeared to be designed to play on her mind and create anxiety and for the better part, it seemed to be working. Again, for a doctor who must see his fair share of mental health issues in patients, this seemed extraordinarily cruel. But note the time and date, ‘16:45 - 30 Nov 19’…
…now look at the next image - below - and note what he responded with and the time (1hr 40m later) he posted. You can safely assume that Harrop was closely watching this woman’s tweets and responding accordingly, in order to drive her into a panic-stricken state. This doesn’t appear to be unintentional. Not a nice doctor.
Fast forward to some months later and the doctor is at it again. This time, commenting on the possible impact a full moon might have on her. An obvious inference that she is a ‘lunatic’. One gets the impression from such tweets that Harrop would not be a very safe place for patients to come and see him if they were feeling mentally unwell.
And, his efforts to create a feeling of desperation and fear appears to be working, as can be seen in the image below, in a tweet by his target.
Why would she feel ‘they’ know where she lives? It’s hard to say, but what is clear, is at some point in the months after that tweet, Harrop updated his profile picture to show a supposedly ‘random’ picture of the countryside very near to where his target lived. Coincidence? Or deliberate? Who knows, but after the previous series of tweets, it comes across as less than innocent.
And in one last example, possibly the most vile, Harrop responds to an exchange where a deliberate rumour is sparked about some titillating images of this woman, on a bed, in an embarrassing pose. Rather than denounce the talk as immature or inappropriate, Harrop adds to it all by implying (on a public forum) that he has the images in question, saying, “check your DMs” along with a shifty smile emoji and a cheeky ‘okay’ sign. All, of course, designed to taunt and mentally torture the woman he seemed to hate.
What do we learn from all this?
Well, it’s clear that when it comes to the behaviour of those who purport to stand for trans rights, they are emboldened every time they do something nasty and get away with it. For each spiteful tweet that goes unchallenged, another victim endures the vile and nasty vindictiveness of the ‘be kind’ crew. It is not and never is, acceptable for this kind of behaviour to occur, especially when perpetrated by professionals who are supposed to abide by the principle of, ‘first, do no harm’.
Maybe, just maybe, this will be a lesson learned for Dr Harrop. There have been a number of cases recently, where professionals have been effectively crucified by their professional bodies, seniors, trans ideologues and pro-trans mobs alike, for far less than this man’s pursuit of this one woman.
We are hearing more of the ‘tide turning’. Let’s see if this will form part of that turn. We can only hope.
